What is Sworn to the Queen about?

Under the laws of the realm, laying a hand on the queen means execution. She chooses the humblest guard in the castle to watch her door at night, and she seems to enjoy tempting him to break the law. Every shift becomes a test of how long he can hold out.

Candy tags it Fantasy and Taboo. The fantasy is the forbidden royal: someone with total power who chooses to be reckless. The tone is courtly and tense, with a power gap as wide as it gets: a monarch who can command anyone and a guard who has everything to lose. It suits viewers who like medieval-style romance, forbidden attraction and a story where every look is dangerous.
